I always take many pictures of the same thing – often from different angles. This is done for several reasons. 1 – Make the photo more interesting. 2 – Try to make sure the focus is clear. When taking a macro photo, what we call the “depth of field” is very, very small.
Depth of field just means how much of a picture is in focus (clear).
Think of it this way. Pretend you are looking at a line of people. With a very large depth of field, everyone in line is in focus. With a small depth of field, only the people in the front of the line are in focus – and everyone else is blurry. So, in a photo of a insect, for example, the depth of field can be so small that, even the slightest camera motion can put part of the insect out of focus.
